Presentations

  • Navigating AI in Data Analysis: Suggestions and Cautions (2025) I was asked to present some tips for doing data analysis with AI. This presentation presents several examples of AI being confidently wrong about various statistical tasks.
  • Some Friendly Advice for Data Analysis (2024). I was invited to speak to the Link Lab at UVA Engineering about statistical best practices. This presentation presents practical tips and reviews some basic statistical concepts.
  • Statistical Issues in Drug Development (2011) While working at PRA I attended Stephen Senn’s fantastic short course at the 2011 FDA/Industry Statistics Workshop. I created this presentation to share what I learned with my fellow statisticians.
  • Somers’ d (2011) I created this presentation while working as a Biostatistician at PRA. It presents a somewhat obscure statistic for describing association among ordered variables in contingency tables.
  • Buffon’s Needle Problem (2010) I created this presentation for a job interview. It shows how you can estimate Pi by dropping needles on a floor with equally-spaced parallel lines.
