If you're a Family Guy fan like me, you'll want to read this Onion A.V. Club interview with Seth McFarlane, the show's creator. One interesting topic covered is how The Simpsons staff hates Family Guy. Says McFarlane: "Apparently they hate our guts. I'm not sure why. I've said this before, but that show, at its best, is up there with the best episodes of All In The Family, Mary Tyler Moore, and Dick Van Dyke, I think. I was reading a quote from one of the writers, from a lecture that he gave, that said "The Simpsons staff hates Family Guy." Who knows why? I'm not losing any sleep over it." I won't lose any sleep over it either, but as someone who loves both shows I have a hard time seeing how anyone with the wits to write for The Simpsons could hate Family Guy. Oh well, it doesn't bother Seth. ("you gotta take it if you're going to dish it out.") In fact he says it motivates them. Cool. That bodes well for the 35 new shows in production.

I was all set to surprise my friend with a X-zyLo Ultra flying gyroscope for Christmas this year. But alas, I found out he already had one. Or at least he used to, until a car crashed into his house and ruined it and a few other things (seriously). So he was happy to get another X-zyLo, but he wasn't all that surprised. I did manage to surprise my sister-in-law with this cool human jello hand mold from anatomical.com. But I forgot to give it to her on Christmas. So I think some of the surprise was that she received another gift three days after the fact. Another big winner was Blokus, which I bought for my wife. Easy to learn but challenging to master, Blokus is a strategy game that's very addictive. On the receiving end, I got a huge present from my dad this year: a trip to the Sugar Bowl! A buddy gave him two free tickets to the game, so he sprang for airfare and a hotel room and treated me to two days and nights in the Big Easy. My Hokies lost, but I came out a winner...with 3 for 1 beer specials at Utopia on Bourbon Street.
