I recently purchased all four of Jeff Berlin's solo CDs. The most recent two, (Taking Notes and In Harmony's Way, recorded in 97 and 01 respectively) feature some fantastic jazz. Depending on my mood, listening to them makes me either want to give up bass playing altogether or enroll in a music school and study with a teacher. I also bought Jeff's instructional video off eBay. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the CDs. Special guest Rowdy Roddy Piper did nothing for the instructional value and received a bit too much air time for my taste. But there were some good exercises and some sound advice, so it wasn't a total loss.
